How I do it:

I create a sketch of your pet, which I email to you for your approval. I limit the number of sketches to two, or I charge a fee for each sketch after that. Once you've accepted the sketch, I complete the final portrait by adding color and finishing touches. I work in colored pencils, or in graphite for a black and white portrait.

    What I need from you:

The portait is based on several color photographs. One or two of the photos should be a clear close-up of your pet's face, and the others should show different views (i.e. three-quarter, profile, etc.). Photos taken from weird angles, that seem to portray a strange cone-head effect that's not really there, or which crop off you dog's ears, should not be included. I draw what I see, and cannot draw what I don't see.

A photo that you think captures your pet's unique personality will help me convey a feel for him or her when I draw the portrait.

If you'd like a particular background for the portrait, you can send me a photo of that, and I'll add personal touches such as favourite toys, name tags, or bandanas as well.

Photos can be emailed as relatively high-resolution images or mailed to me.

    Pricing:

Portrait prices range from $175 - $250, depending on complexity, size, number of animals, and other factors. I require the usual 30% deposit and I will quote you a price before I start.
